For the very first time on stage, Swedish star saxophonist Anders Paulsson meets one of the most exciting artists of his generation, bassoonist and composer Burak Özdemir, with his Ensemble Musica Sequenza for a unique evening where Baroque, jazz, and improvisation merge.
At the heart of this program are magical duet moments between Burak Özdemir’s bassoon and Anders Paulsson’s saxophone, woven into a rich tapestry of Baroque masterpieces, Stockholm’s signature Scandinavian jazz affairs, and virtuoso improvisations. The concert uniquely combines historical Baroque improvisation practices with the spirit of jazz improvisation, creating a thrilling, one-of-a-kind dialogue between centuries and styles — at once intimate, dramatic, and exhilarating.
The cast is set as follows: Anders Paulsson (soprano saxophone) and Burak Özdemir (bassoon) as soloists, with Ensemble Musica Sequenza on strings, theorbo, piano, and drums. Performing on period instruments while embracing the colours of jazz, the ensemble creates a vivid, genre-defying soundscape.
An unforgettable concert experience, sweeping the audience off their seats and igniting their energy from the first note to the last.
