BACH INTERMINATA is a new performance work by Burak Özdemir and Musica Sequenza that innovatively combines music by Johann Sebastian Bach with the historical music of the Mediterranean countries. An inter-cultural and exotic pastiche program that combines the cultural heritage of Bach and the coastal regions from Spain to Morocco with its unique timbres.
The project is based on powerful rhythms, extravagant colors and unheard melodies from 12 Mediterranean countries, North Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The program includes amazing works by Antonio Martin y Coll, Guillaume de Machaut, Stefano Landi, Tanburi Mustafa Çavus, as well as traditional hymns and psalms from Israel, Palestine, Egypt and Tunisia.
With BACH INTERMINATA we get to hear how Mediterranean Sea provides the bridges for these extremely lavish, vivid and various sounds to interact with another for more than 12 centuries, as well as with the divine compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach.
The peace project unites us in a universal understanding of the cultural richness and authenticity of the folk music of the seaports, where people from different cultural backgrounds come together and celebrate the diversity of life. Burak Özdemir explains; “The spirit and sensuality that we hear in this music touches our ears without aging. It preserves something wild, raw and timeless about our nature. Because life does not end at borders, it continues and creates dialogues across centuries, countries and their citizens. Life works as a collective in unique ways to write a universal story. Life is the continuity of our cultural heritage, which must not be forgotten or lost in challenging times.”

BACH INTERMINATA ist ein neues Performance-Werk von Burak Özdemir und Musica Sequenza, das auf innovative Weise Musik von Johann Sebastian Bach mit der historischen Musik der Mittelmeerländer verbindet. Ein inter-kulturelles und exotisches Pasticcio-Programm, das das kulturelle Erbe Bachs und der Küstenregionen von Spanien bis Marokko mit seinen einzigartigen Klangfarben vereint.
Das Projekt basiert auf kraftvollen Rhythmen, extravaganten Farben und ungehörten Melodien aus 12 Mittelmeerländern, aus Nordafrika, Europa und dem Nahen Osten. Auf dem Programm stehen erstaunliche Werke von Antonio Martin y Coll, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Stefano Landi, Janus Plousiadenos, Tanburi Mustafa Çavus, sowie traditionelle Hymnen und Psalmen aus Israel, Palästina, Ägypten und Tunesien.
Mit BACH INTERMINATA erfahren wir, wie das Mittelmeer seit mehr als 12 Jahrhunderten die Brücke dafür bildet, dass diese äußerst üppigen, lebendigen und vielfältigen Klänge miteinander interagieren. Genauso eine Brücke schafft heute die universell gültige Musik Bachs.
Das Friedensprojekt vereint uns in einem universellen Verständnis des kulturellen Reichtums und der Authentizität der Volksmusik der Seehäfen, wo Menschen mit unterschiedlichem kulturellen Hintergrund zusammen-kommen und die Vielfalt des Lebens feiern. Burak Özdemir erklärt; “Der Geist und die Sinnlichkeit, die wir in dieser Musik hören, berühren unsere Ohren ohne zu altern. Sie erhält etwas Wildes, Rohes und Zeitloses über unsere Natur.Denn das Leben endet nicht an Grenzen, es geht weiter und schafft Dialoge über Jahrhunderte, Länder und ihre Bürger hinweg. Das Leben arbeitet als Kollektiv auf einzigartige Weise, um eine universelle Geschichte zu schreiben. Das Leben ist die Kontinuität unseres kulturellen Erbes, das in schwierigen Zeiten nicht vergessen oder verloren gehen darf.”
